Day 1: Preparing for School and Temple Visits – July 3, 2024
The first day of Smile Bright Initiative’s mission began with a flurry of activity, as preparations for the upcoming school and temple visits were made. The day kicked off with a quick stop at the local print shop to pick up the brochures and worksheets that would be distributed during the outreach efforts. With materials in hand, several visits were made to trusted vendors, such as Laxmi Marketing and Bharat Bags, who generously offered discounted rates and even partially sponsored the items that were needed. Their support was instrumental in helping stay on track to achieve the Smile Bright Initiative’s goals.

By mid-morning, they had a vehicle packed to the brim with essential items: toiletry bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. The first stop was at the home of the lead volunteer, Kunjal Desai, where 10+ volunteers eagerly gathered to assemble over 300 dental hygiene kits. With an assembly line of enthusiastic helpers, the kits began to take shape quickly, each one filled with the tools needed to promote healthy habits among the future beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, another group led by Smile Bright Initiative President Yuvraj Desai and Vice President Agastya Desai worked at Venus Park. This team of 7 volunteers worked diligently to assemble another 300+ kits, ensuring there would be enough supplies to meet the needs of all the children they planned to serve in the upcoming visits.
It was a productive and fulfilling start to Smile Bright Initiative’s mission, made possible by the support of local vendors, dedicated volunteers, and the passion of everyone involved. As the day came to a close, it was clear that the preparations had set the stage for a successful outreach—one that would bring bright smiles and improve oral hygiene for many in the community.
Day 2: Spreading Smiles at JM Vidhya School – July 4, 2024
On the second day, the Smile Bright Initiative was on the road to the city of Zak, loaded up with over 400 dental hygiene kits ready for distribution. Smile Bright’s President, Yuvraj Desai, and Vice President, Agastya Desai, were joined by 5 dedicated volunteers from Venus Park, continuing the momentum from the day before. The destination: JM Vidhya School, an all-boys hostel serving lower-income students.
Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the school’s administration and staff, including the head Maharaj and the Principal, whom Yuvraj and Agastya had been in contact with for months. This was their first in-person meeting, and the excitement was palpable. After a brief discussion with the principal, it was time to engage the students.

Following their lunch break, the principal made an announcement over the PA system, gathering the 400+ students in the primary hallway. With a makeshift desk and microphone in hand, Yuvraj addressed the crowd in Gujarati, introducing himself and the mission behind Smile Bright.
The lecture focused on key dental hygiene topics—demonstrating proper brushing techniques, explaining the importance of flossing, and discussing the significance of maintaining a daily oral care routine. Yuvraj also shared details on local dental clinics and how the students could access affordable care, empowering them with the knowledge to take charge of their oral health. He wrapped up by explaining how to use the dental hygiene kits and provided each student with a hygiene tracker log to help them maintain healthy habits.
After the talk, the volunteers, along with the school staff, worked together to distribute the dental kits and worksheets. The response was heartwarming, with bright smiles all around as the students received their kits. It was a successful day of education, engagement, and spreading smiles across Zak!
Day 3: Brightening Smiles at Tragad Prathmik School – July 5, 2024
After a successful day at JM Vidhya School with over 400 kits delivered and 400 children impacted, President Yuvraj Desai and Vice President Agastya Desai moved to the next location, Tragad Prathmik School. With the aid of another set of volunteers and the school staff, Smile Bright Initiative distributed over 200 dental hygiene kits to the students, marking a significant step in raising awareness about proper dental care.

On the final day of its planned outreach activities, the Smile Bright Initiative visited Vihat Ma Temple, a prominent and frequently visited temple in Tragad, Gujarat. Renowned for its cultural and spiritual significance, the temple also serves as a gathering place for the local community, particularly younger children. The outreach team, led by the president, Yuvraj, organized an impactful event aimed at promoting oral health awareness among the temple’s young visitors.
